Certification

Darryl L. Sink & Associates, Inc. offers two tracks for certification.

  1. The Certified Instructional Designer program is designed for developers who are working in traditional training environments and need to solidify fundamental development skills.
  2. The Certified Instructional Designer, E-Learning Emphasis track is designed for training developers who are now faced with the new challenge of creating effective instruction for the web environment. It is possible to earn both certificates.

Use the chart below to determine how you wish to become certified.

 

Certified Instructional Designer Program (Combine any two of these workshops)

The Course Developer Workshop (2 Days)

The Criterion-Referenced Testing Workshop

Certified Instructional Designer - E-Learning-Emphasis Program (Combine any one of the above workshops with this one)

The E-Learning Design Workshop (3 days)


Requirements

The certification program requires the completion of two Darryl L. Sink & Associates, Inc. (DSA) workshops and a score of 80% or greater on a criterion-referenced test on each. DSA workshops completed after July 1, 1999 count towards certification requirements.* Please see the chart below to determine the most appropriate certification option for you. If your situation is not described here, or if you'd like to tailor an alternate program to better suit your needs, please contact our office.

* If it has been more than two years since you attended a particular DSA workshop, you may re-attend that workshop as an update and refresher for $125.


Actions

  1. Register, attend, and complete your DSA workshop(s).
  2. For access to test(s), contact DSA.
  3. Pass criterion-referenced test(s) with 80% accuracy.
  4. The administrative fee for certification is $90 payable to DSA upon passing the test(s).
  5. You're certified! DSA will award your certificate.



Earning University Credit with Certification

Actions

  1. Register for a Darryl L. Sink & Associates, Inc. (DSA) workshop.
  2. Attend, enjoy and complete the workshop!
  3. Determine the number of credits you are eligible for.

    any combination of 2 two-day DSA workshops

    any combination of 2 DSA workshops including a two-day plus a three-day

    * Each unit at CSUC is actually based on 15 hours of contact time. That is why a 2-day DSA workshop equals one unit. Partial credits can not be awarded, but completing workshops in combination allow you to carry over leftover hours to combine with the next workshop. This will yield more units in total.


  4. Register for the corresponding CDES398(X) class through the Open University program at California State University, Chico. Note, there is a per unit fee charged by CSU, Chico.
  5. Pass criterion-referenced test(s) with 80% accuracy.

Transcripts will be available at California State University, Chico.




Certification for Past DSA Workshop Participants

Any Darryl L. Sink and Associates, Inc. workshop completed within the last two years may be applied towards DSA certification and/or towards graduate credit at California State University, Chico. This applies to public or in-company workshops. Use the chart below to determine how you wish to become certified based on past workshop participation.
