DSA's Training Development Tips
Faster, Easier, BETTER Script Writing by “Writing To The Question”(Continued)
Script Writing: The "Writing to the Question" Detailed Procedure
- Select the part of the instruction that you must create on your own. Review the key and enabling objectives for which your presentation will provide information to the audience.
- List questions you will need to answer for the learners so they will have the information necessary to accomplish the objectives.
- Check to determine that you have listed all questions they will need answered to accomplish the objectives.
- Eliminate any questions that are not really necessary to accomplish the objectives.
- Sequence the questions you have listed. (e.g. Simple to complex or concrete to abstract.)
- Use a standard storyboard format or make two columns.
- Write what the learners will read or hear in the column to the right side of your workspace, and describe what the learners will see (visual) or do on the left side. This information should lead your learners from where they are to the point where they can answer the first question.
- Continue to answer the remaining questions for the learners until they are all complete.
- Review the instruction you have written. Add transitions between each question.
- Write an opening and ending. Specify the appropriate visuals to accompany the presentation
- Ask someone to review your instruction.
- Rewrite the instruction as necessary
